Life moves to the divine rhythm of a song called ‘ratzo vashov’, a melody composed of two distinct yet harmonious movements: the running and the returning. This spiritual symphony echoes in every breath, every heartbeat, and the sun’s daily traverse from dawn to dusk. As members of this celestial orchestra, we experience and contribute to this perpetual symphony, which not only sets the rhythm of existence but also underscores the intricate relationship between humanity and the Divine.

Imagine a river as a melody, its waters streaming with compelling force towards the vast and mysterious expanse of the ocean. This composition represents ‘ratzo’, the run. ‘Ratzo’ encapsulates our inherent longing to transcend boundaries, to dissolve our individual notes into the grand symphony of the Divine. It signifies the sacred pull within each of us to seek unity, love, enlightenment, and purpose – a desire that the Divine Conductor, HaShem, the Infinite One, appreciates, honors, and cherishes.

Following ‘ratzo’ comes ‘shov’, the returning refrain. Visualize the ocean, with its unfathomable depth and breadth, receiving the river’s song and imparting to it a part of its own infinite harmony. Now transformed, the river – our soul – must compose its returning melody. It carries the wisdom of the ocean back to its origin, enriching the land from which it began. This represents our soul’s journey back into the world, filled with divine understanding, ready to share light, love, and wisdom with all. This return is not a retreat, but a powerful forward movement, a progression in the symphony of life.

HaShem, both the composer and the audience, silently observes this eternal performance. Each run and return, each movement in this grand symphony, is a testament to our connection with the Divine. Every pursuit of the Divine and each newfound understanding reveal HaShem’s pervasive presence in the world, affirming the realization that His melody permeates every corner of the universe.

Intriguingly, the melody of ‘ratzo va’shov’ isn’t confined to our soul’s spiritual journey. It also resonates in our daily lives – in the rhythm of work and rest, in the changing seasons, in the day-night cycle, and even in the tidal ebb and flow. This sacred melody is inherent in even the most ordinary aspects of life.

One of the most profound realizations about ‘ratzo va’shov’ is understanding that this composition is not linear. It’s not about reaching the final chord, but about savoring the melody itself – the rhythm, the cycle. In the melody of running and returning, we discover our purest essence – the divine note within, a vibrant echo of His divine composition. And in this realization, we find peace – not in the silence, but in the harmony of the melody, the sacred song of ‘ratzo va’shov’.

The post The sacred song of GOD appeared first on Muse with me....

Long, long ago, in a vast desert land,

The children of Israel fled Pharaoh’s command.

With faith as their guide, they set out wide-eyed,

To the Promised Land, where they’d soon reside.

The festival of Shavuot celebrates the day,

God gave them the Torah, at Sinai they’d stay.

A sacred mountain where God’s voice rang clear,

Revealing the commandments, for all to hold dear.

Mountains around Sinai boasted and vied,

Claiming they were worthy, with mountainside pride.

But humble Mount Sinai, so modest and small,

Stayed quiet and gentle, not seeking fame at all.

God saw its humility, and thus it was blessed,

Chosen as the place, where the Torah would rest.

For it’s not the size, but the heart that stands tall,

Humility and grace, the greatest virtues of all.

Three million strong, they stood at Sinai’s base,

Waiting for the moment, their future to embrace.

United as one, their hearts open and free,

Ready for the wisdom, a divine decree.

The Israelites said, “We will do, then we’ll hear,”

A pledge of faith, their devotion sincere.

They trusted God’s wisdom, without needing to think,

For they knew in their hearts, they’d never sink.

Moses ascended, their leader so wise,

To meet with God and receive the grand prize.

With bated breath, they all waited below,

For God to speak the words they would know.

God spoke the first two commandments aloud,

To three million people, a wondrous crowd.

They heard lightning and saw thunder, an incredible sight,

Yet the awesomeness was too much, they trembled with fright.

In the desert they wandered, with God by their side,

He gave them manna, their hunger to bide.

He quenched their thirst, with water from a well,

Showing His love, with each miracle’s swell.

Shavuot arrives now, a moment to cherish,

The giving of the Torah, its wisdom won’t perish.

A time to remember our bond with the Lord,

And the divine guidance, forever explored.

In rhymes and verses, we joyfully share,

The story of Shavuot, a tale we declare.

With thankful hearts, we dance and we sing,

For the wisdom and guidance, the Torah does bring.

Just like a cheesecake that’s quite yum,

Shavuot’s a holiday that’s second to none.

As we giggle and laugh, our spirits take flight,

Celebrating God’s gift, by day and all through the night.

The post Mount Sinai’s Treasure: A Dream Realized appeared first on Muse with me....

In the hollow echo of the hospital’s corridors, I stood alone, my shadow merely a smear against the stark white walls. The usual rhythm of life had faltered; the heartbeat of my world drowned in a silence more deafening than chaos, filling the sterile halls with a brutal punctuation.

Facing this terrifying void, I found myself at the altar of Hashem, offering the only sacrifice I could muster – my prayers. My voice wavered, stumbling over the ancient words of psalms into the sterile air, a desperate plea wrapped in verses that had comforted and guided generations before me. In my mouth, they felt fraudulent. The echo of the words became my lifeline, a conduit to the divine, the only source of hope in the numbing stillness.

My tears, salt and sorrow, raced freely down my face, each drop a testament to the helplessness I felt. I offered my repentance, my atonement, my life, and I begged for mercy, pleading with a fervor that seemed to sear my soul. My ego crumbled, my pride shattered, leaving behind only the raw essence, a husk.

“I am nothing,” I cried in a voice not my own, my words swallowed by the stillness, “Your mercy, Hashem, is their only hope.” Broken, bent, and silent, I approached the door.

I paused, my hand on the door handle, my heart pounding a solitary beat. The air crackled with anticipation. Then, the door opened.

Her smile, my angel’s smile, radiated through the gloom, a beacon of hope that instantly pierced my despair. The steady drumbeat of life, the heartbeat of our unborn child, danced in the air. It was a lifeline thrown across the chasm of fear, a promise of survival.

With a gasp of surprise and delight, she exclaimed, “It’s a boy!”

It felt as if I were perched on the precipice of the highest cliff, my gaze lost in the unfathomable depth beneath me. Yet, there was no fear, only an overwhelming sense of exhilaration, an invisible force buoying me, allowing me to soar through the infinite expanse of the sky.

This was the divine dance of joy. This was gratitude, radiating from every pore, every breath. This was a second chance, a divine decree encased in the strong newborn cries of my son mixed with the joyous laughter of my wife. My heart swelled with a silent vow, a promise to Hashem, to be worthy of this mercy, to honor this gift with a life lived in gratitude and love.

From the depths of despair, I had been lifted to the pinnacle of joy. The miracle of life, the miracle of mercy, unfolded before my eyes. In the echoes of my psalms, in the rhythm of the heartbeats, I found my gratitude, my resolve, my promise. To cherish each miracle, each moment, with the love and gratitude they deserved.

The post My Tears, Our Destiny appeared first on Muse with me....
